Editing Update:
We have taken some of the changes recommended on board, I have taken my trailers length from 1:57 to 1:32, I have also synced the audio to the editing and footage, with jump cuts linked to the drum beats, I did this to increase the pace to the slower scenes in the trailer.
I have also turned up the audio of the voice overs so they are easier to hear over the non-diagetic music.
The video will be uploaded within the next week.

Avenue Billboard Poster Draft
This is my first draft of a billboard poster for my soap, I will aim to have around 50 of these in the country before the soap starts to air in March, I wanted to keep the colours simplistic by using a white, sans serif font. I feel this will make it stand out as the background was dark.

Second Draft
This is the second draft of my media trailer, I feel as thought this could possibly the the final draft as I took on advise from fellow students and family members when I showed my first draft and have implemented most of these into the soap.
Second Draft Editing Complete
'Lacks pace in the beginning'
'More Dissolves/ Fades'
'Thought it was a music video'
When the focus group was asked to raise there hands if they would watch the soap, around 12 of the 26 students raised there hands, a straight 6/6 with boys and girls. We were happy with this percentage, however, we wanted to attract more than this, so to improve my soap, taking on the advise from one of the students I removed/ edited around 7 seconds from the opening two scene, I also synchronised and matched the lyrics of the song to the scene for additional effect.

Finally, from the advise of the focus group, I added voice-over audio on an overlay of the music to make it clear that it wasn't a music video, I also added 'Coming Soon...' at the beginning of the trailer, I feel this will also make the viewer more intrigued on first viewing. The addition of voice-over which were asynchronous, non-diagetic voices of the characters who were on camera, I felt this gave more insight into the characters persona, especially as our trailer has no diagetic speech from the characters, the voice-overs were also conducted by the characters themselves, so when the soap begins or another trailer/ interview is released/ oiccurs, they will already recognise the character.
The voice-overs are:
'Sometimes I wonder whether our love is worth the abuse we get'
'You're such a freak'
'She'll never love me'
These show three different persona's linked around the same semantic field of love, we did this to link to our soaps tagline 'There's two sides to every story'.
With the editing of the soap, I ensured that the two sides were shown, for example: David Bangs is shown as a drunken, obnoxious man when making the homosexual couple cry, but in the opening scene, you also see that he is looking at a picture of his child and the text 'Drink away your sorrows...' appears and fades away, but to the homosexual couple, he is just a drunken man with no reason for his drinking, this is a factor we wanted to draw upon within the soap.
Editing Update
The current draft of my soap trailer is almost complete, I have stuck to the sequence which was planned on the storyboard, this shows good planning from both me and my team. We are all editing seperately and each of our productions differ drastically, some of us have used voice-overs and texts, others have editing the song to exclude the 'bass drop' in the Blue Foundation song, I have opted to keep this in the trailer as I feel the build up then the drop links to the climax of a story within the trailer and links with the penultimate scene ideally.
The song I have used in my soap trailer is Blue Foundation- Eyes On Fire (Zeds Dead Remix:

TV Show Posters For 16-25 Demographic
The characters in the poster represent the stereotypical teenager which is perceived to be a 'party animal'. This focus is emphasised in the show and also on the poster itself, it showcases scantily clad boys and girls kissing at a party, it also shows an upset girl in the centre of the poster, this highlights the actions at a young person's 'house party' a concept that was very much created by the first series of Skins and caused controversy with many reports of violence and even drug overdoses from young teens imitating the actions of the Skins characters.
The poster showcases the name of the show, the signature of the broadcaster (E4) and the start date and time, this is a common feature of new shows on Channel 4/ ITV, however, my Soap will be shown on the BBC, were the conventions are very different. BBC Dramas/ new shows very rarely show a start date, they all display 'Coming Soon'. With my poster, I have showcased all the stock characters surrounding the 'Avenue Road' sign where the majority of the characters will live, I also have the name of the soap written above the illustration, with the Body text and headline to the left and right. I feel that the image will draw te attention of the audience to te poster, then they will see the channel and 'Coming Soon' which may spark their intrigue and make them research the show in further detil and hopefully watch it when it airs.

Editing Planning
I will list several editing ideas I have had for my soap trailer: I have previous editing experience as I make YouTube videos which require heavy editing, especially in audio synchronisation, effects usage and quality of the footage.
Some ideas and good editing tools I have prior knowledge of and have researched for final Cut Pro X are:
- Colour Correction
- Audio Balance
- Transitions/ Wipes
- Fades/ Dissolves
- Splitting Clips
- Audio level adjustments
- Rendering
I feel that this part of the task will be my strongest as I have vast experience in editing processes and a good understanding of soap trailers, especially in terms of pace. I learnt this through online research. I hope to have the editing complete within 2 weeks.

Filming Complete
All of the planned shots which were storyboarded have now been filmed and we are ready to edit the trailer, the final shots we included were adjusted due to the closure of a store we had initally planned to use. We adjusted the scene including the 'geek', the initial plan was to have him talk to a girl, but we already had a story revolving around a love triangle and wanted the diversity of the soap to come across in the trailer, so we decided to have an abstract and 'freak' for comic relief to end the trailer on a humourous tone after all the heavy subject matter of the gay relationship issues and drug deals. I will now begin editing on Final Cut Pro X.
